Create an Oracle Standby CDB
Oracle
In the previous part we successfully created Oracle PDB instance.
Now, we will learn how to create Oracle Standby CDB.
You need to navigate to the Inventory area in the right side of the Layout section.
Under the Nodes there are 3 options available:
- Drag me on CDB to create PDB
- Drag me on CDB to install a Standby
- Drag PDB from the list onto a CDB to start copying
Drag the second icon named ::| Drag me on CDB to install a Standby over the CDB (Primary) node icon. A new window will appear.
You can choose between two services for your installation:
- Proxmox
- Your own VM
Select the service and click Next to proceed. A new window will appear.
Please make sure to complete the form and when ready, select Next.
- Hint: CDB Name field - Oracle supports the max length up to 12 letters and numbers. Avoid whitespaces and special symbols, as it leads to an error message.
In the new window, you will be asked to choose a Data Path.
By default, it is configured to /123cluster/oracle/data1. You can change it, if needed.
Click on the Rest API icon will generate a code you can later use for automation, in the preferred DevOps tool.
Select Submit to finalize your installation.
Your installation path will look like this:
Inventory area → Nodes → Drag me icon → Primary node → Install a new Oracle CDB Standby → Click Submit
