Switchover Oracle Standby

Switchover Oracle Standby

Oracle

In the previous part we successfully created a Backup for Oracle instance.
Now, we will learn how to perform Switchover for Oracle CDB.

Hint: An Oracle database Switchover is a planned, graceful role reversal between a primary and standby instance that guarantees no data loss.

You need to navigate to the Cluster area in the left part of the Layout section.
Make sure to switch to Physical layout to see your Primary and Standby nodes.
Next to your Cluster name, you see blue Status and Cluster Options signs.
Click the Cluster options and select Switchover from the allocated dropdown menu.

A new window will appear. Choose your Standby from the list.
To validate the process, type 'switch me' and click Submit.

  • Click on the Rest API icon will generate a code you can later use in automation.

The status runner will indicate the progress of your operation.
Our Standby successfully completed the Switchover process.

Your installation path will look like this:
Layout area → Cluster Options → Switchover → Select Standby node → Type 'switch me' Click Submit
