Create Oracle CDB backup
Oracle
In the previous part we successfully created an Oracle PDB Backup.
Now, we will learn how to create an Oracle CDB Backup.
You need to navigate to the Inventory area in the right side of the Layout section.
Click on the Backups section and explore this area.
We don't have any backup here, so lets improve this situation.
Drag and drop the root CDB icon to the Backups area.
A new window will appear with two options available:
- Backup now or
- Scheduled backup
Backup now will create and instant backup of your CDB.
There are two options available here:
- Backup the entire container database (including all pluggable databases)
- Backup only the container database
You can compress the backup to minimize storage.
By default it will be stored for 2 days, but you can change it later in configurations.
Scheduled backup can be configured for day or week with a chosen time.
There are couple of options you can configure:
- Incremental level: Full, Differential or Cumulative. The difference lays in save methodology and amount of space taken.
- Backup the entire container database (including all pluggable databases)
- Backup only the container database
You can also compress the backup to minimize storage.
Click on the Rest API icon will generate a code you can later use for automation, in the preferred DevOps tool.
Select Submit to finalize your installation.
Your installation path will look like this:
Inventory area → Nodes → Drag me icon → CDB → Backup → Click Submit
